Original information:
The light bomber Bristol Blenheim was one of the most important aircraft that the RAF had at the beginning of the Second World War. He also served in more wars than any other aircraft. The Mk.IV version received an extended nose that replaced the cramped bomb position from previous models, a better performance engine, and a larger defensive firepower. These light bombers carried out at the beginning of 1940 some of the first RAF bombings against German targets and in later years served in large numbers on a number of battlefields.
When Blenheim flew for the first time in 1935, it was one of the most modern aircraft in the world. He got breakthrough technologies such as a full-metal semi-shell construction, retractable chassis and flaps, a retractable tower on the back, and a propeller with an adjustable slope. No wonder he was at the forefront of aviation engineering. It is no wonder that Blenheim was actually developed as part of a private project funded by Lord Rothermere, the owner of the Daily Mail newspaper. He was frustrated by the amount of German-made aircraft that broke one record after another. He was therefore determined to conquer the title of the fastest civilian aircraft in Europe and return it to Britain. His wishes were successful and the aircraft he named "Britain First" was a huge success, as he quickly overcame all of the RAF fighters - Rothermere, so he was able to use the British Air Force in air tests. The RAF was interested in finding out how this new machine could benefit its pilots. The test results made them feel like they immediately ordered the light bomber version directly from the drawing board.
First light bombers Bristol Blenheim Mk.I entered service in March 1937 to wreck number 114 with base in Cambridge, Wyton." Hawker Hind and RAF biplands replaced the battle potential immediately - Blenheim was an incredible 160 km / h faster than Hind, but it was the fastest light / medium bomber in the world. It was just the airplane against which all others had to measure. But this over the next few years played against Blenheim, because any aircraft that could be potentially sent to fight against him was carefully evaluating his ability to make sure Blenheim could overcome it. It was, however, a plane that was available at the beginning of the Second World War, and it has always held a particularly important place in history.
