Original information:
On April 26, 1940, four members of the KG 4 took off early in the morning in their Heinkel He111 P-2 5J + CN machine from Fornebu airport in Oslo, Norway. This bomber, one of the three who were tasked to attack the city of Andalsnes, was damaged by fire from the HMS Manchester. He was therefore no longer able to keep fit with the remaining Heinkels when two British Blackburn Skua bombers surprise him from the FAA Squadron 801 starting from the HMS Ark Royal. The Skua A7-A machine pilot launched a machine gun fire, which managed to hit the bomber and kill the Williams Stocka's onboard mechanic. With one non-functional and a second burning engine, the pilot Richard Gumbrecht had no choice but to land somewhere in the snow covered mountains underneath them. The remaining crew members managed to escape the debris and get out of the mountains away. Their essentially intact Heinkel, however, lay in the mountains for another 30 years before being rescued and restored by the Oslo Military Aviation Museum, Gardermoen.
Using our new 3D scanning technology, we bring you a new model for the year 2015, amazing1: 72 Heinkel HEIII P2! This aircraft, which was responsible for more damage caused by strategic bombing during the Battle of Britain than any other machine, comes with an incredible amount of detail because it was designed using information that Airfix has never used to create its models. And the results are really fantastic! This frighteningly fast bomber, the "wolf in the sheepskin cloth," was originally masked as a commercial aircraft, although the intention of the Luftwaffe from the very beginning was to make it its chief bomber for the initial phase of the Second World War.
