Original information:
Even though it was obsolete at the beginning of the Second World War, the old-fashioned and vulnerable Fairey Swordfish aircraft proved to be one of the most prominent and most valuable items in the British Naval Air Force. It was a variant with a standard chassis starting from aircraft carriers that carried out the almost fatal intervention of the Italian fleet at Tarento and later significantly contributed to the sinking of the Bismarck warship, but in the early stages of the war served this particular variant with floats.
This seaplane was designed primarily for warships that did not have a full flight deck available. In this role, the navy proved to be a very valuable machine, which set out for patrol flights or anti-submarine missions before being pulled back on board again by the crane. The floats, however, had a major influence on its speed and slowed down the machine, which was already too slow and vulnerable.
